Fayzulla Khodjaev Museum memorializes one of the eminent politicians of Uzbekistan, whose active work fell on the beginning of the XX century.
Fayzulla Khodjaev, is, undoubtedly, a key politician figure of Uzbek history of 1920-1930. His fantastic career and tragic final left many ambiguities, covered with discrepant myths of the XX century.
Fayzulla Khodjaev, a native of Bukhara, belonged to the richest people of Bukhara khanate. At the end of the XIX – beginning of the XX centuries there was a state of classical Asian monarchy headed by the amirs of Mangyt clan under the protectorate of the Russian Empire.
Fayzulla Khodjaev Museum in Bukhara
Fayzulla Khodjaev’s father was a merchant- millionaire, who made a fortune on the export of karakul. When Fayzulla was 11 he together with his father went to Russia and until 1911 had been studied in Moscow. In 1912 the father died, and Fayzulla got a part of father’s property, including the house in old Bukhara neighborhood. It was quite clear, that faith and convictions of young Fayzulla reflected the interests of national capital, competing with the largest capitalist Khanate – Amir of Bukhara. Hence there was an aspiration to reforms and way to power by means of revolution. Fayzulla Khodjaev actively opposed the anti-people reign of the last Bukhara Amir.
Fayzulla Khodjaev engaged in governing of Bukhara region, but during mass repressions of 1937-1938 he was executed.
In Uzbekistan people revere Fayzulla Khodjaev's memory, and that is why Fayzulla Khodjaev Memorial Museum was established.
This historical building has the excellent condition, and is the outstanding place of interest itself. House-Museum of Fayzulla Khodjaev has two yards: the outside yard – “men's” and inside one - “woman's”. All walls of the building and interiors of the dwelling are richly decorated with paintings on wood and alabaster, cutting on ganch and plaster. The aggregate house space is three hectares.

Today in Fayzulla Khodjaev Museum along with the memorial exposition there are two thematic exhibitions. The first one shows the mode of rich Uzbek merchants and includes the original subjects of luxury, furniture and musical instruments, silk and velvety oriental robes. The second exhibition demonstrates the wide collection of dishes, where the items of Kuznetcov and Gardner factories, copper and silver dishes of Bukhara masters are presented.
The exposition of Fayzulla Khodjaev Museum tells about the way of life of Uzbekistan of different times. The greater part of museum pieces includes ancient original products.
It is interesting, under the House-Museum of Fayzulla Khodjaev there is a system of underground tunnels, which purpose is still unknown. May be they were constructed by Fayzulla Khodjaev, in case of danger it was possible to hide from Khan’s anger. But, perhaps, the tunnels have more ancient history, and they had been here before the house building.

FAYZULLA XADJAYEV
Fayzulla Khodjaev, a well-known statesman and politician, an active participant in the Bukhara Jadidism, one of the leaders of the Young Bukhara Party, was born on July 1896, 1 in Bukhara in a large merchant family. He graduated from the old school in his youth and studied at the Bukhara madrasah. From 1907 to 1912 F. Khodjaev studied in Moscow with private teachers. From 1913 he worked in the ranks of the Jadids and was engaged in the dissemination of enlightenment among the people.
He used the great wealth inherited from his father to open new methodical schools and to financially support the political activities of the young people of Bukhara. From 1917, F. Khodjaev and Fitrat headed the left wing of the party and fought for the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in Bukhara, and then a democratic republic. After the young people of Bukhara were persecuted by the Emir, F. Khodjaev and his comrades were forced to leave Bukhara.
In 1920 he emigrated to Turkestan and founded the Turkestan bureau of the Young Bukhara Party. The program of the party, formed by F. Khodjaev, was based on Sharia and aimed at establishing a people's democratic republic in Bukhara, taking into account the national traditions and peculiarities of the people.
After the overthrow of the Emir of Bukhara and the transfer of power to the Young Bukhara, F. Khodjaev was elected head of government. In this position, he sought to pursue an independent policy, to communicate on an equal footing with Russia and foreign countries. In 1922, he went to Germany to sign contracts with foreign trading companies and major merchants.
In 1925, F. Khodjaev was elected chairman of the Council of People's Ministers of Uzbekistan. In his activities, he sought to implement measures that serve the economic and cultural development of the Uzbek people. F. Khodjaev opposed the policy of the Soviet regime to restrict the activities of national intellectuals. He was forced to work under the pressure of the center for many years. In 1926 he was severely persecuted by the Communist Party for his book "Materials on the History of the Bukhara Revolution", dedicated to the history of Jadidism.
As the head of the government, F. Khodjaev tried to develop the national economy of Uzbekistan (cotton, irrigation, capital construction, animal husbandry), education and culture, but later realized that these efforts were futile in the new colonial environment.
In addition to Soviet Russia, Khodjaev established diplomatic relations with Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, China, Azerbaijan, the USSR, as well as Germany and Japan, paying special attention to the independent domestic and foreign policy of the USSR, economic reforms and the introduction of democratic freedoms. He was one of the initiators of sending students abroad.
During his career, F. Khodjaev sought to implement measures that would serve the economic and cultural development of the Uzbek people. He was a supporter of the Central Asian Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) and the "Group of Eighteen" (November 1925), which was in opposition to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan. He did not support the policy of ending “ears” as a class. He believed that mass sowing of seeds in Uzbekistan would lead to cotton monopoly. He took the initiative in the construction of modern industrial facilities in Uzbekistan.
F.Khojaev has left a rich scientific legacy as a statesman, historian and economist, publicist and journalist. His books "Materials on the History of the Bukhara Revolution" (1926), "On the History of the Bukhara Revolution and the National Frontier of Central Asia" (1932), "The Economic Situation in the USSR" (1924), "On the Young Bukhara" (1926), "Jadids" (1926). ), "Printing" (1930) presented serious problems in the history of Uzbekistan in the 1st quarter of the XX century.
F. Khodjaev was arrested on July 1937, 9 in Moscow. Ten were charged with joining the Right Trotskyist Bloc against the Soviets, leading the National Union, supporting the Basmachi movement and the Kurds, and caring for Fitrat, Cholpon, Abdullah Qodiri, and other Uzbek intellectuals.
